Abandoned road in Oshodi The less than 300 metres road that links the two church bus stops in Oshodi is known as Daodu Street. The street is important in the transport network within the community. It also connects  communities like Mile 2  and Isolo to other communities  like Ikeja and Agege. This important road has deteriorated to the point of total collapse for years. Previous administrations have neglected the road without any moves to upgrade, re-surface or re-construct it.  A female friend once jokingly said that she often quarrelled with Okada riders for taking her through this terrible road. It’s that bad. Over six months ago, the Bolaji Ariyo-led government commenced the rehabilitation of this road much to everyone’s delight. Alas, after over six months, the road has yet to be completed; in fact, the rehabilitation has been abandoned without any trace of the contractor. This is not expected from an administration that brought so much hope to...

Jonathan, Governors Meet Today on Obasanjo Report  President Goodluck Jonathan: Ahead of today’s meeting to consider the report of the Elders Committee headed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo which met last Friday on the factionalisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the splinter group led by Alhaji Abubakar Baraje has elected its national officers who will form the nucleus of the New PDP. MICBLOG gathered that despite divisions among members of the Elders Committee on the recommendations of their report, the meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan, the governors of the party, and the six PDP governors, who broke away to form the splinter group, would still go ahead today as planned. It was gathered that Obasanjo’s committee ran into troubled waters and could not reach a decision on some of the contentious issues like the factional crisis in the Adamawa State PDP, the recall of the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, holding of another nati...

PDP: An uncommon brawl THE Peoples Democratic Party, had prided itself until last Saturday as the only political party to have survived since the advent of the Fourth Republic without altering its identity or name. But not anymore. It all seemed to be going well last Saturday as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP held a special national convention in the Eagles Square. Security concerns arising from the Boko Haram insurgency had been almost adequately addressed with the decision to block traffic on all major roads leading to the Eagle Square. Entry into the square was strict as all entering the square were passed through tough security screening. The impression that the gathering was moving  towards success was further given when President Goodluck Jonathan arrived the  convention ground that morning in a bus alongside the party’s governors. The governors had converged at the Presidential Villa that morning  to join the president as part of his convoy to demonstrat...
