No challenge can make the Church to fail, says cleric

cleric John Sentamu's The General Vice President, General Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Worldwide, Dr Benjamin Schoun, said the church of Jesus Christ had not failed even in the face numerous challenges. Schoun said this while admonishing the church and its workers at the inauguration of the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference of the church in Aba on Saturday . He said the argument of people not going to church because the church was not living by what it was preaching was wrong and such people needed a change of mind. Schoun said Christ foresaw the numerous challenges the church would face, and promised that the gates of hell would not prevail over it. 20 election officials escape robbery attack in Anambra

No fewer than 20 election officials in the Anambra governorship poll were attacked in the early hours of Sunday by armed robbery suspects along the Onitsha-Owerri Express-way. One of the officials who preferred anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka that they were attacked at about 3a.m. while returning from Ihiala after the election. The electoral officer said they were rescued by soldiers who were covering them from behind. According to him, the suspects stopped them, but on sighting the security vehicle trailing behind, they took to their heels. “Some of us had already jumped out of the vehicle, and the timely intervention of the soldiers saved us. “As soon as the robbers saw other vehicles behind us in a convoy, they escaped into the bush. “We thank God for saving us. APC threatens to reject results

Interim National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed The All Progressives Congress on Saturday threatened to reject the results of the governorship election in Anambra State, if voting did not take place in all the local governments. A statement from its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, said it would reject results from its strongholds of Idemili-North, Idemili-South and Awka-South. The party condemned the shortcomings in the voters’ register, which omitted the names of many voters. It also demanded the immediate removal of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukogu.
