by Funmi Ojuroye 30th July, 2013; 08:45 AM (CNN)  -- The European Union's top diplomat, Catherine Ashton, met with deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy for two hours Monday -- the first high-level official aside from the Egyptian military to meet with Morsy since the military whisked him away to an undisclosed location last month. Ashton has sharply criticized Morsy's forcible removal from power by the Egyptian military on July 3, and has called for Islamists to be included in the political process. Her spokeswoman confirmed the meeting  in a tweet , but did not offer details. A news source disclosed that the explosion occurred around New Road in Sabon Gari, Kano close to a drinking joint. Reports also reveal that armed militants shot at and killed several people at the bar as they scampered for safety, thereby increasing the death toll. One source states that at least 11 bodies have been recovered from the scene of the blast and more are expected to be recovered. Another witness posted on Nairaland.
