F.G to recruit 1,200 Nig volunteers in 2013……TAC

By: Funmi Ojuroye November 4, 2013 The Federal Government is set to deploy one thousand, two hundred Nigerian volunteers under the Technical Aid Corp scheme to recipient countries-this year. TAC is scheme designed to compliment direct financial aid from Nigeria to needy African, Caribbean and Pacific countries through skills exchange towards strengthening international understanding and co-operation under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaking in a chart with Vanguard, the newly appointed Director General of the Directorate Dr Pius Osunyikanmi said one thousand two hundred Nigerians will be recruited as volunteers and sent to recipient countries in 2013, He stated further that the increase in the number of volunteers for 2013 is due to increase in the demand for more volunteers by recipients countries in the previous years which was usually between four hundred to five hundred volunteers. Boko Haram Leader In A New Video, Says He Personally Led Damaturu Attacks

By: Funmi Ojuroye November 4, 2013 The leader of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram, Imam Abubakar Shekau, on whose head United States place a $7 million ransom last night appeared in a new video, saying he personally led recent attacks in Damaturu, Yobe State on October 24th 2013. A military source who watched the new video in Damaturu told Mic'sblog  that, Imam Shekau boasted of overrunning Nigerian military, explaining that the sect will triumph over military and put in place Islamic government under Allah’s descriptions, despite Nigeria’s government resistance.  Also, Shekau displays a cache of arms including AK47 guns, RPGs and a large sum of ammunition, he claimed the sect seized from Nigerian troops. Shekau in the video also disclosed that the Damaturu attack was one of the sects most successful operations as it killed several Nigerian soldiers. Taraba Speaker, Haruna Tsokwa, slumps, dies

By: Funmi Ojuroye November 4, 2013  Tragedy enveloped Jalingo, the Taraba State capital in the early hours of Monday when the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, slumped and died.Tsokwa, who led the team of lawmakers opposed to the resumption of work by ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai despite his plea, is said to have slumped in his house and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre. His corpse was later removed from the FMC Jalingo to Taraba Specialist Hospital. Before his untimely death, Tsokwa had come under attack by unknown gunmen on his way out of Taraba State. One of his aides was killed in the attack even though Tsokwa escaped unhurt. The late speaker was being expected to lead a delegation of the state Christian community to the yearly pilgrimage in Israel, when he kicked the bucket.
