Family of slain Nigerian student in Cyprus cries for justice

By; Funmi Ojuroye  October 16th 2013 The family of a Nigerian student, Mr. Gabriel Soriwei, who was killed in the North Cyprus city of Nicosia, has cried out to the Federal Government, relevant authorities and indeed all well meaning Nigerians to  intervene and ensure justice is done. The late Soriwei, aged 20, was a first year student of Electrical/Electronic/Engineering at the Cyprus International University, Nicosia, in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus when he was knocked down by a female driver on July 13, 2013. As a result of the impact of the accident, Gabriel fell into a coma and eventually died on September, 7 2013. On September 12, the authorities of the Cyprus International University flew his remains via the same Turkish Airline he flew in February to us as cargo for us to clear. Nigeria spends N250bn on medical tourism annually

By; Funmi Ojuroye  October 16th 2013 It was estimated, yesterday, that the capital flight for medical tourism in Nigeria stood at N250 billion, just as plans had been concluded to rake in a total of N8 billion for medical facilities in the country as part of the centenary celebration. Disclosing this at a briefing in Abuja, Secretary, organising Committee of the Nigerian Centenary Charity Ball of the centenary celebration, Dr. Kingsley Esegbue said: “It is estimated that Nigeria spends N250 billion annually on foreign medical care.” Esegbue who noted that the capital flight was unnecessary for a developing country like Nigeria, however, explained that the problems that caused these flights could be handled in Nigeria if the facilities were there. By; Funmi Ojuroye  October 16th 2013 Thrown out porperty Following the recent allegations levied against a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Nigerian Army, by some aggrieved individuals over forceful eviction from a property located at House Number 311, B close, Festac town, Lagos, a counsel to the officer identified as Victor Chinedu, has cleared the air on the allegations. The counsel who was armed with documents claimed that the officer did not do anything outside the confines of the law insisting that rather, the man who claims to be the authentic owner of the house illegally rented the property to a tenant without the consent of the real owner.  He further claimed that when the issue came before military authorities, they advised that it should be settled amicably or other legal remedies be sought but the reverse turned out to be the case. Weststar slashes car prices for Abuja shoppers

The firm gave the indication in a statement obtained on Tuesday. “Weststar will have all these products and more on display at the 2013 Abuja Motor Fair and even promises special and attractive prices on offer,” it stated. According to the statement, the firm will also showcase the Chrysler, Dodge/Ram products. “The all new Ram1500 Laramie will be on display and a mini-launch of the new 2014 SRT 8 is set to thrill visitors. They are built with the utmost quality and are highly beneficial in their ability to cater to the driver/owner’s needs,” it stated.
