Borno deputy governor denies rift with Gov. Shettima

Deputy Governor, Borno State, Zannah Mustapha The Borno Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, on Saturday, denied having any rift with Gov. Kashim Shettima over the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state. Mustapha denied the alleged rift, which he said was making the rounds when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Biu, Alhaji Mustapha Aliyu, in his palace. He said it was not true that he had teamed up with former Borno Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, to take over the control of APC in the state. The deputy governor said the rumoured disagreement with his boss was the handiwork of mischief makers. He added that “in my opinion, Gov. Five Policemen slump on parade ground in Lagos ... on Friday Five officers of the Nigeria Police Force slumped on Friday at the Police College, Ikeja, during a parade to mark the pulling out (retirement) of senior police officers.  The event, which lasted for about two hours, was held in honour of  seven  retiring officers, made up of two AIGs and five commissioners.  Midway into the ceremony, a policeman slumped and was quickly attended to by the paramedics, who later carried the man away in an NPF ambulance. Almost immediately after the incident, three others, including a woman, also slumped. Paramedics, who attended to them, gave them sachet water, which they drank and also poured  on their heads. The fifth man that slumped  was taken out of the parade ground by the medical team. Tunisia arrests suspect in murder of MP

Tunisian security forces arrested a suspect in the murder of opposition politician Mohamed Brahmi after a gun battle during an overnight raid on a hideout, the interior ministry’s spokesman said. The security forces “surrounded a house [near the capital Tunis] where a terrorist group had holed up. Following a sustained exchange of fire, four elements were arrested,” Mohamed Ali Aroui, the spokesman, told the AFP news agency on Sunday. “Among them is Hmed el-Melki, alias ‘Somali,’ one of the elements implicated in the assassination of the martyr Mohamed Brahmi,” he said, adding that weapons were seized during the raid. “The interior ministry stresses that it was a successful operation,” the spokesman said without revealing the identities of the other suspects. Brahimi killed outside his home last July, months after the assassination of another opposition politician, Chokri Belaid in similar circumstances.
