Nigerians to engage Jonathan via Twitter

Nigerians who have questions they will like President Goodluck Jonathan to address during the presidential media chat billed for 7pm on Sunday can send such questions via Twitter to @mediachatng1.According to a statement on Saturday by presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, the President would be ready to answer questions on current national issues and events, as well as policies and actions of his administration during the programme that would be broadcast live on national television and radio stations.The statement read, “President Goodluck Jonathan will host another edition of the Presidential Media Chat on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 7pm.“President Jonathan will in the course of the programme, answer questions from a panel of journalists on current national issues and events, as well as policies and actions of his administration.“Members of the public who have questions they will like the President to respond to on the programme may send them in via Twitter to @mediachatng1.“The programme will be broadcast live on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Voice of Nigeria (VON).“Other television and radio stations are enjoined to hook up to NTA and FRCN to relay the programme to their viewers and listeners.”

Goodluck Jonathan President Goodluck Jonathan’s official photographer, Mr. Callistus Ewelike, was on Monday night shot by unknown gunmen in Abuja. Ewelike, a photojournalist with the News Agency of Nigeria is attached to the State House, Abuja, and he is currently acting as the President’s official photographer. The father of two was reportedly shot at a close range in front of his house in Nyanya in the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, between 10pm and 11pm. He was said to be returning to his house after filing the photographs he took during Jonathan’s visit to Shape Community in the FCT, where the President inaugurated the Operation Light Up Rural Nigeria Project when the incident happened. ASUU: No political party can use us

ACADEMIC Staff Union of Universities [ASUU] has said that it is not been used and cannot be used by any political party to achieve its goal. The union also said that it does not work on the basis of tribe or religion in pursuing its aims and objectives. ASUU Calabar zone made this clarification in a statement issued in Umuahia, yesterday. by its coordinator, Dr. Charlie Ononuju in reaction to a certain publication which accused the union of being used by the APC. Ononuju described the publication as “entirely false and misleading [as] the union is not and cannot be influenced by any political party. The union embarked this national strike to secure the furniture education of the Nigerian child”.
