BY: FUNMI OJUROYE 16th Sept. 2013 A 13-years-old girl (names withheld) has been kidnapped in Ekete, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State and held for eight days by suspected kidnappers over the title documents of her late father’s property. She has, however, been released. A family source said the victim was kidnapped on September 5 at 12noon, when she went to a nearby market to buy foodstuff, by a gang allegedly hired by a member of the family. Vanguard learnt that trouble started in the family soon after the death of the father, Mr. Michael Salubi, in November last year, and a petition was forwarded to the police at Ovwian-Aladja Police Division for intervention. Rebelling PDP Governors, President Jonathan, Agree To ‘Ceasefire A group of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors which met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock villa tonight agreed to observe a “ceasefire” until final discussions on October 7 to iron out differences they have with the president.  An aide to President Jonathan said the air around the meeting gave them hope that the disagreements between the president’s faction and the ‘New PDP’ might be resolved on that date. Although the ethnic violence between the outlawed Ombatse militia of Eggon and the Alago people of Obi local government spreads from Aduba through Obi to Assakio, he assured that youth corps members serving in these areas are under security protection. Mr Shehu disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the efforts made by security operatives to contain the crisis. The fresh crisis erupted following the killing of an Eggon man by the Alago group, which led to reprisal attacks yesterday. CSNAC Files FOI Request With CCB Demanding Information On Police Pension Fund Looting Case Of Uzoma Attang Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CSNAC) has filed a Freedom of Information (FOI) request with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) demanding an update on its investigation of the case of Mrs. Uzoma Attang. By a letter of August 23, 2012, the CCB applied to withdraw the charges brought against Mrs. Attang to enable the Bureau conclude further investigations on the matter.
