Gov Okorocha denies legalising abortion in Imo Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo has said that the bill currently in the House of Assembly is not for the legalisation of abortion. Okorocha said this when he reacted to reports that the state government had  legalised  abortion in Owerri on Friday. He explained that the bill would eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence, including sexual, psychological, domestic and harmful traditional practices The governor said the bill was also expected to provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishments of offenders. Okorocha added that the bill would equally enable every woman to enjoy reproductive rights as well as the right to medical abortion in cases of sexual assault, rape, incest. British soldier dies in 1,000-metre Mont Blanc drop – Repor A British climber died on Wednesday after a 1,000-metre (3,281-foot) fall from near the peak of Mont Blanc, Italian news agency ANSA reported. The man was identified as a member of Britain’s armed forces and was said to be climbing with a partner although the two were not roped together, the report said, citing police in Entreves near the French border. It said he began his climb on the French side of the 4,810-metre mountain and fell on the Italian side. A Spanish climber saw the fall and raised the alarm. The victim’s body was recovered by mountain rescue in Italy’s Val d’Aosta region and taken to Courmayeur. An investigation has been opened, the report said.
